Oxycodone History and Information

Oxycodone is a semi-synthetic opiate manufactured using the chemical thebaine, an organic chemical found in opium that is also used in Percodan and Percocet. All Oxycodone medications have a severe abuse potential. Oxycodone Withdrawal and Side Effects include irregular breathing or respiratory depression, increased cerebral and spinal fluid pressure, headaches, nausea, dizziness, seizures, heart failure and low blood pressure. Oxycodone has similarities to Heroin in that it elevates levels of Dopamine which is the neurotransmitter linked to pleasure. As the brain adapts to the Oxycodone the only way to feel pleasure is to take more of the drug. Nearly every state is now suing Purdue Pharmaceutical, the manufacturer of Oxycodone and OxyContin for omitting and misrepresenting contrary scientific evidence concerning the potential for addiction to their product and instead, pushing it as a safe, long term solution for pain control.

The dangers of Oxycodone dates back to the 1960s when the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime classified it as a dangerous drug. Then in 1995 the FDA approved OxyContin and addiction rates soared. OxyContin is time-released form of Oxycodone and initially deemed safer but the pills were crushed by addicts to defeat the time-released mechanism and snorted or injected. Oxycodone on the street is often laced with Fentanyl and this combination has proven deadly. Admissions for OxyContin and Oxycodone Detox have increased dramatically and Getting Off Oxycodone can be extremely challenging.

Medical detox is most often used to Get off OxyContin but many cannot sustain through the severe withdrawals. At Point of Return we take a gentle approach to OxyContin Withdrawal and implement a slow taper schedule while utilizing potent Nutraceuticals to provide relief for the OxyContin Withdrawal Symptoms. Our program is done at your home and has helped people in 78 countries over the past 15 years.
