Feel the Difference
Not all whey proteins enhance health or build Glutathione levels.
Undenatured, native bioactive whey protein isolates contain the maximum levels of naturally occurring glutathione precursors: covalent bonded cysteine, immunoglobulins, lactoferrin, and active peptides. Native Undenatured whey proteins have shown to enhance intracellular Glutathione.
Bioactive pharmaceutical grade, microfiltered undenatured whey protein isolate, produced under cold processing conditions to protect the fragile proteins. Our closed herd of cows are fed high selenium grass and no sweeteners, preservatives or additives are ever used in our formula.
SUPPORT is 90% protein by weight (maximum protein content available today). with micronutrients including Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin), Vitamin B6 (as Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate/P5P), Zinc, Selenium and Vitamin D3 have been added to support brain health. Lactose free. We believe in getting as close to nature as possible.
Glutathione for Anxiety, Sleep, Improved Strength and Brain Health
A 2005 clinical trial from Elsevier Neuroscience found that "Glutathione and its derivative have sedative and hypnotic effects, and might be effective in improving psychic stress such as anxiety." Researchers have also found that Glutathione is an active part of the neurochemical sleep promoting substance in our brain.
Glutathione the brain's master antioxidant and critical to protect this vital organ. Many neurological disorders are linked to a compromised Glutathine system within the body.
Glutathione is essential for strength since high concentrations are also found in muscle tissue and exercise depletes Glutathione levels. Glutathione boosts immune health, improves cognitive function and risks of disease. Basically Glutathione is critical for every stage of life.
Each container of SUPPORT is produced from nearly 75 gallons (283 liters) of milk from a closed herd of cattle that graze on natural selenium-rich grass.
Each batch of milk is stringently tested to ensure no antibiotics, hormones or other contaminants are present, and we reject any supply that does not meet our rigid high-quality standards. This bioactive whey isolate is produced without the use of high-heat pasteurization which can damage the fragile proteins and amino acid profile that helps support the production of its most critical antioxidant, Glutathione.
Bioactive Microfiltered Undenatured Whey Protein Isolates and Glutathione
Undenatured bioactive whey protein isolates have shown to enhance intracellular Glutathione. The combination of depeptides cysteine and glutamyl-cysteine, amino acids L-cysteine, L-glutamine and glycine, and alpha lactalbumin serum, lactoferrin, and beta lactoglobulin, are all are building blocks of the body's most potent immune cell supporter, Glutathione. Glutathione levels are directly related to lymphocytes (an arm of the immune system), which suggest that increasing intracellular Glutathione enhances immune function.
Glutathione plays a protective role against the damaging effects of bacteria, viruses, pollutants, toxins, carcinogens and free radicals. As a detoxifying agent, Glutathione is necessary to eliminate foreign compounds that can injure health.
The importance of Glutathione for the proper function of the immune system cannot be overstated. Glutathione is arguably the most important water-soluble antioxidant found in the body, and without adequate supplies other important antioxidants such as Vitamins C and E cannot properly protect the body.
Glutathione is known to be essential to immunity, oxidative stress, and overall wellbeing, and reduced levels are associated with a host of diseases. Therefore, Glutathione is essential for everyone.
Nutritional Value of Bioactive Microfiltered Undenatured Whey Protein Isolates
The nutritional value of a protein depends upon its capacity to provide nitrogen and amino acids in adequate amounts to meet the needs of the human body. Undenatured bioactive whey protein isolates provide all the correct amino acids in approximate proportion to their ratios in the skeletal muscle, and is rich in the essential amino acids lysine, methionine, cysteine and threonine. Whey isolates also contain a higher dose of the branched chain amino acids (BCAAs) than other protein sources. In addition to the high amino acid composition, whey isolates also contain high amino acid availability.
The protein in bioactive whey isolates is made up of many smaller protein sub-fractions including: beta-lactoglobulin, alpha-lactalbumin, immunoglobulins (IgGs), glycomacropeptides, bovine serum albumin (BSA) and minor peptides including lactoperoxidases, lysozyme and lactoferrin. Each of the sub-fractions has unique biological properties. Whey protein is often described as a nutritionally perfect protein because it contains all the essential and non-essential amino acids required by the human body. The amino acid profile contains an abundance of sulfur-containing amino acids in a highly bio-available form. This shouldn’t be surprising considering human breast milk is 80% whey protein.
The unique disulfide cysteine bonds of whey are very heat sensitive (thermo-labile) so it is critical to process the protein so they retain the native form to maximize the important immune, antioxidant and detoxification benefits.
The Production Process Used for SUPPORT
SUPPORT is produced using a cross-flow microfiltration method that produces the highest levels of undenatured protein available. It’s a delicate process that uses filters to separate the protein from the undesirable fat, cholesterol and lactose based on molecular size and shape. The low-temperature process isolates the native protein of the whey at its biologically natural pH, while carefully preserving the biological activity. This maintains the full range of the fragile immune boosting and regenerative components.
The vast majority of whey proteins on the market use high heat pasteurization, which does irreversible damage to the majority of the components of milk and may cause intolerance even in individuals who have no history of milk allergies.
Microfiltered whey is rich in protein called native micro fractions that include alpha lactalbumin, flycomacropeptide, immunoglobulins, serum albumin, lactoferrin and lactoperoxidase. When the protein is processed and these micro-fractions are destroyed, the whey protein is considered “denatured.”
But these micro fractions contain essential amino acids that are immediately available to muscle cells and also support the immune system. For instance, immunoglobulins are also called antibodies that find and destroy viruses and bacteria; alpha lactalbumin is the most abundant protein in mother’s milk, and serum albumin is a precursor to glutathione (the body’s master antioxidant that is in every cell of the body). So it is essential to retain these micro fractions during the manufacturing process, or produce an “undenatured” whey protein.
Unique Ingredients in Support
Vitamin B6 (P5P -pyridoxal-5-Phosphate) is required to maintain a healthy immune system, but also for the production of Serotonin, a brain neurotransmitter that controls mood, appetite, and sleep patterns.
Vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin) is known as the anti-stress vitamin and helps protect the red blood cells in the human body. B12 also affects the balance of homocysteine levels and how the body uses folic acid and carbohydrates.
Zinc functions as an antioxidant in the central nervous system and has been shown to support the integrity of the blood brain barrier. Of all the trace minerals, zinc is second only to iron in total concentration in the brain.
Selenium is essential in supporting heart cells, the functioning of the immune system, and healthy brain function. Selenium is a co-factor for the enzyme glutathione peroxidase, which aids in the regeneration of glutathione. Glutathione protects the cells from rancid fats and improves immune system response.
Vitamin D3 is stored in the brain, skin, spleen, and bones and assists in calcium absorption. Vitamin D has also been reported to support the brain proteins known to be involved in learning, memory and motor control.
Not all Whey Proteins Are the Same
To appreciate the excellence of SUPPORT, it is important to understand the stark differences between whey proteins.
Whey proteins differ dramatically from one another depending on the processing method, protein content and additives. Whey protein concentrates & hydrolyzed (denatured, meaning injured) are inexpensive in raw material and production, while Bioactive Micro-filtered Undenatured Whey Protein Isolates (undenatured, meaning intact) contained in SUPPORT, undergo expensive filtration and drying methods in order to retain the vital protein structures.
There are formulas for body builders, meal replacements and protein powders that contain whey yet may not produce Glutathione. Even the term ‘whey protein isolate’ does not guarantee it is a bioactive microfiltered isolate free of pesticides, hormones, artificial sweeteners, herbs and flavorings. You will not find a comparable undenatured micro-filtered whey isolate for a better value than SUPPORT.
Whey Proteins can be Divided into 3 Major Categories:
1. Isolates - which are further sub-divided into:
a.) Micro-Filtered Bioactive Undenatured Isolates (best choice) more...
b.) Ion-Exchange Isolates more...
2. Whey Protein Concentrates (WPC)
- Microfiltered bioactive undenatured whey protein isolate (contained in SUPPORT) is the most undenatured form of whey, meaning the native structure remains intact. It has a 90% and higher protein content and is virtually lactose, fat and cholesterol free. During the process of microfiltration the undesired particles (fat and lactose) are separated from the protein using ceramic microfilters in a low temperature environment. High temperature pasteurization destroys these delicate compounds. After filtration the whey protein is spray-dried again using low temperatures. This is an expensive process that is essential to protect the native structure.
Micro-filtered whey isolates have the highest biological value of all whey proteins and contains the following characteristics:
• Enhance the Production of Glutathione (GSH)
• Strengthen the Immune System
• Antioxidant Properties
• Promote Muscle Growth
- Ion-Exchange Whey Isolates have a protein content of 90% or higher, and contain tiny amounts of lactose, fat and cholesterol. However, the process of deriving ion-exchange whey includes separating the protein using an electrical charge using hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide. This process alters the pH levels of the whey and in turn destroys most of the native essential proteins that play a role in our immune health, natural Tryptophan production and ability to produce Glutathione.
While the healthy proteins are destroyed, a protein structure called Beta-lactoglobulin can become the most predominant in ion-exchange whey. Beta-lactoglobulins are major source of allergens.
2. Whey Protein Concentrates are the cheapest and lowest grade whey with a protein content varying between 35-85%. Whey concentrates contain excessive levels of lactose and fat, and are high in cholesterol. Whey concentrates are mainly derived using high temperatures that denature the whey, meaning the protein has been altered from its natural, native structure to some different, artificial composition. Many sports blends are comprised of denatured whey concentrates of low biological value. Additionally, the high temperatures used in concentrates oxidize a large part of the cholesterol present in the whey.
3. Hydrolyzed Whey is a denatured partially predigested protein, where the native proteins are partially or fully lost. Normal digestion allows the body to breakdown as much protein as it needs to amino acids, but predigested whey is exceptionally high in the excitatory neurotransmitter Glutamic Acid (Glutamate).
